How can I change a windows registry value when I cannot enter windows? Is there any way to change it through the windows repair console? or DOS?
No, I cannot enter safe mode. The thing is that I changed a registry value called Userinit and calls the file Userinit.exe. But when I did I forgot to put a comma in the end, so, now I end up logging in and right back out.

…can you boot into safemode. If you can, try it that way. You can enter safe mode by hitting F5 during the boot up of your computer and it will give you some options.

Question by Ready Salted Cockerel: How can I speed up Vista’s startup time?
My laptop takes 10 minutes to boot up. Although the Vista desktop is displayed after about one minute, it’s too slow to be usable. I tried to disable some of the startup applications, but this caused windows explorer to keep crashing so I don’t want to do this again. Any other tips?

when I got a new laptop, the store manager warned me that Vista uses up a huge amount of memory and to run efficiently I should get an upgrade on the memory so it doesn’ take forever to switch programs. I thought the laptop should have been sold with the right amount of memory, but this was a sales ploy to advertise a low price…and if I cared that my computer would be really slow, well, I would cough up more for an “upgrade” to what it really needed to run.
